Affordable housing

The Government of Canada, the Government of Ontario and the Region of Peel today celebrated the announcement of more than $17 million in funding for affordable housing in Peel Region. The funding will help create 269 new affordable rental units in two Brampton projects.

“The Government of Canada is committed to making affordable housing available in Ontario and across Canada for those who need it most,” said Minister Solberg. “Here in Brampton, these new apartments will help low-income families and individuals, including seniors and people with special needs, access safe, affordable and quality housing, helping them to build a stronger future.”

Today’s announcement was made at the Canadian Legion in Brampton, a future affordable rental project sponsored by Peel Housing Corporation. The $35.7 million project, which includes $11.3 million from the Canada – Ontario Affordable Housing Program, will result in 175 apartment units for low-income families and individuals, including seniors and people with special needs.
